Jungle Rush
Cloud shapes are ripped into blanket of green and grey, revealing the blossoming, yet toxic, flora and fauna below. There are less geometric and glyph-based forms in this work, so it has a closer relationship to the “abstract-landscape” genre of painting, the sense of a horizon and depth from layered forms, rather than the top-down aerial diagram of other works in this series. One of the threads running through this sequence is the use of psychedelics as an access point to shamanic experience. The viewer-initiate is seduced by the immediate sensuality of their environment, the terror and wonder of the natural and spirit worlds.
