FLOW
This was a series of abstract designs that I worked on between 2014-15, that were printed and exhibited as part of a group exhibition in Leamington Spa that was titled “Flow”.
The works were executed on Adobe Illustrator and initially drew their inspiration from infographics, transport system maps, diagrams, logos and pictograms as I was working as a graphic designer at the time and also teaching Visual Communication. These remain strong fields of visual interest to me today.
I was drawn to theories of the Collective Unconscious as I was interested in examining whether archetypes lay at the centre of human communication. As the series developed, forms became more fluid and dreamlike. Carl Jung suggested that water is “a living symbol of the dark psyche”. Several of the titles are based on river-themed terminology and fauna.
I’ve included this gallery here as an archive documenting my artistic development. None of these works are currently for sale.
